Meet Heather Herrygers

Heather Herrygers currently serves as a trustee on the Grand Haven Area Public School Board. Heather believes in listening to all voices —students, families, staff, and community members — to ensure student outcomes and policies reflect the community. Her commitment to the responsible use of taxpayer dollars focuses careful investment in our schools to maximize student success and engagement.

Heather’s platform focuses on transparency, fiscal responsibility, and accountability, aiming to strengthen trust between the school district and the Grand Haven community. She believes that by working together with fellow board members, families, students and staff, we can develop policies that set high academic standards, foster operational excellence, and prepare students for lifelong success.

Her priorities include:

• Open conversations: Participate in open conversations between the school district and the Grand Haven community to strengthen trust and transparency.

• Careful spending: Advocate for the thoughtful spending of school funds. Focus on programs and resources that improve student success and careful use of taxpayer dollars.

• Engaged students: Support student experiences and teaching methods designed to increase innovative student engagement, foster critical thinking, and prepare students for future success.

• Collaborative policy-making: Work together with the board, families, students and staff to develop policies that address the needs of our district and students.

• Accountability: Work closely with fellow board members, families and staff to establish goals that hold both the board and the Superintendent accountable for maintaining high academic standards, operational excellence, and fiscal responsibility.
